Sumi Dojo in Montreal

Awesome place, with awesome food and awesome service. The décor is clean and simple, but warm and exotic. The music is perfect, and you will be able to chat without hearing the neighbours table. The food is awesome and their choice of Asian alcohol is great. Service was flawless, polite and friendly. I loved their dessert too.

Decent food. I tried the ramen, the broth was a bit too salty but it was good otherwise. but the service is kinda slow. They do offer take out too.

i am surprise there is such a good japanese restaurant in town ... good place to meet up with friends .

sashimi and sushi are always fresh

Service s good. The good is okay according to the food. Sashimi are fresh,but the grilled fish and fried food are a bit over cooked.

The place itself it nice enough. I really liked how each seat was also storage for your coat! However, once we ordered, the food took a very long time to get to the table. Not all of my table of 11 people got their food at the same time. The food itself was acceptable but the temperatures varied amongst my guests. Once it came to dessert, some of my friends ordered a dish and were told by the waiter that it would take an additional 15 minutes (a conservative estimate) to prepare. My own dish of Dan Dan ramen tasted good enough, and there was no issue changing the chicken to tofu. This place has a lot of potential but falls short of meeting expectations.

This place is a Mess. cold dishes even if the place was almost empty. Bathrooms where terrible...on a Tuesday afternoon! Not satisfied

Great food and service

Top quality food and top level service. I would recommend a 2 hour visit, most food are made fresh and are well worth the wait. The beef tartare was splendid and very authentic. I also highly recommend the desserts. Absolutely order the chocolate fondue cake early. It takes 20 minutes but well worth the wait!

A quiet authentic Japanese bar serving sake and food. The takoyaki is a must try for the adventurous. It moves! Food was great, the pink sake was stopped good. The interior design of this place is worth the price of admission, it was beautiful and not too busy - a perfect place for dinner and drinks and good conversation with friends. We left a noisy Irish bar because we couldn't hear each other speak. Glad we found this place. 5 stars not just because a friend paid for me :)

Food was just ok. The service was super long. I think there was only 2 waitresses for the whole restaurant. It took at least 30 minutes at the end just to have the bill. Also, it seems like they were missing a bunch of ingredients for the bar. There was 2-3 drinks that they couldn't do because of that.

The place has deteriorated a lot since the opening.. price is ok, but quality were just so so.A lot of things are not in the menu, so I ask myself why do you give that Menu when 90% of things I want you don’t have them ;(Got a chicken grilled on stick.. raw.. like common we are the only customer and you do mistake like that.. anyhow I was charged, when things like that happened you normally don’t charge that item.. Anyways~ hope it gets better..

Loved the decor and the food. Waiters were super polite and kind. The drinks were also very tasty and I enjoyed the experience alot.

Dirty, can see accumulation or dirt under furniture. Collection of boxes in dining rm. Sake took for ever, so we left..

cozy place with fantastic staff and the food is authentic (not that i have been to japan, but still, it was not just like an 'average Asian restaurant' kind) and priced just right. i went there for lunch in a middle of the week, so there was no need to make a reservation.you'll be surprised when you walk into and also when you walk out of this place!

The service is horribly long, the place was empty and it still took 45 min for us to get our order! The food is not bad, but not the greatest! There's much better japanese restaurant in montreal and if you want to go for the sake bomb go to Imadake.

Offers raw oysters for a dollar each. It's a hit or miss with how fast service takes as there is most of the time, one cook and one server. Always order the oysters and either the tomkatsu ramen or duck soba. Have to disagree with other reviewers that the ramen broth was salty. I love the food but pack your patience for this spot.

We love this place. Quick and easy to get a lobster roll, karaag chicken and ramen. All of my favourites. If you want sushi and sashimi do go there. It's fresh and tasty. The staff is very helpful and caring. Strongly recommend this place
